      This year Albuquerque Fire Rescue will be hosting an Inaugural AFR Memorial Day Murph on Monday May 30th at the Training Academy. The Murph Challenge is in honor of Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who died in combat while attempting to radio headquarters during a firefight.

Their term in office starts June 1.  We thank both Brent Henderson and John Flaherty for their decades of service to the Fund. Both chose not to run for re-election.

      Special Meeting to Approve Congressional Endorsement, May 20, 2022

      A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall on May 20, 2022, at 12:00pm, in accordance with Article V, Section 6 & Article IX, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting is to approve the Political Action Committee recommendation for a Congressional Endorsement. The meeting will start promptly at 12:00pm.

      At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, Local members responded to an aircraft emergency at Centennial Airport. A Cessna 172 was landing when it left Runway 28, hit a sign, and stopped in the grassy area between Runway 10/28 and the Charlie Taxiway.

      At 11:47 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022, multiple 911 callers reported a building fire in the 1800 block of S. Quebec Way on the border of Arapahoe County and Denver. While members were responding, a large plume of black smoke was widely visible. Members from South Metro Engine and Medic 21 were first to arrive at 1885 S. Quebec Way in Denver.

      Local 21 Regrets to Announce the Passing of Retired FEO Jack Burch

      Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Equipment Operator, Jacob (Jack) Burch. FEO Burch joined the Saint Paul Fire Department on March 16, 1954 and retired on January 08, 1980.  Jack was assigned to drive Engine Co. 09 on the B shift. Jack passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the age of 92.

      The Town of Scituate states that they will comply with the DLR and CERB decisions, yet has not produced clear proof of such compliance. They state that Local 1464's suggestions for staffing are "nonsensical and detrimental to the health and safety of Scituate residents'.  So is an Engine Company staffed by one firefighter.  See the Town's response.

Please contact Senator Brownback and Senator Roberts and urge them to vote in favor of this legislation that will help Firefighters across the country, including many right here in Kansas.
